Position Summary

Peters Medical Research is seeking an initiative-taking, detail-oriented Registered Nurse / Clinical Research Coordinator (RN/CRC) to join our growing clinical research team.

The RN/CRC will coordinate and conduct clinical research studies while providing nursing expertise and direct clinical support to research participants and the research team. This position combines traditional Clinical Research Coordinator responsibilities with direct patient care, clinical assessments, medication administration, laboratory procedures, and support of medically complex research visits.

The RN/CRC will assist with assigned clinical trials from study startup through closeout and serve as a clinical resource to other research staff. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills, strong clinical judgment within the nursing scope of practice, and a commitment to patient safety, research quality, and protocol compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•    Coordinate and conduct assigned Phase I–IV clinical research studies in accordance with study protocols, GCP, IRB requirements, sponsor requirements, and site policies.
•    Conduct screening, enrollment, study visits, follow-up visits, and other protocol-required activities.
•    Review medical records and assist in assessing potential research participants against protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria.
•    Obtain and document medical histories, medications, vital signs, ECGs, laboratory results, and other clinical information.
•    Perform venipuncture, IV placement, blood collection, specimen processing, ECGs, and other protocol-required procedures within training and scope of practice.
•    Administer investigational products, infusions, injections, and protocol-required medications when appropriately delegated and permitted.
•    Monitor participants during dosing, infusions, and research procedures and promptly identify and escalate adverse events or changes in clinical status.
•    Assist Investigators with the assessment, documentation, and follow-up of adverse events and safety events.
•    Provide clinical support during medically complex and Phase I research visits, including PK visits and prolonged observation periods.
•    Complete accurate and timely source documentation and maintain complete research records.
•    Enter study data into EDC and other sponsor systems and resolve data queries within required timelines.
•    Assist with maintaining regulatory and essential study documents and required training records.
•    Manage laboratory kits, specimens, processing, storage, shipment, and associated documentation according to protocol requirements.
•    Assist with investigational product accountability and documentation when delegated.
•    Coordinate participant scheduling, laboratory testing, imaging, medical records, and other protocol-required services.
•    Communicate professionally with sponsors, CROs, CRAs, vendors, laboratories, IRBs, Investigators, and research participants.
•    Assist with site initiation visits, monitoring visits, audits, inspections, and study closeout activities.
•    Identify and promptly report protocol deviations, documentation deficiencies, safety concerns, and operational issues.
•    Serve as a clinical resource to other Research Coordinators and assist with clinically complex subjects and procedures.
•    Support clinical research marketing activities, as needed.
•    Maintain all required professional credentials, certifications, and clinical research training.

Requirements

•    Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
•    Master’s Degree preferred.
•    Bachelor’s Degree required.
•    Phlebotomy certification required.
•    Current BLS certification.
•    Clinical research experience is preferred but not required.
•    Current GCP certification is preferred but not required.
•    Ability to perform venipuncture and IV placement or willingness to become proficient.
•    Strong clinical assessment and patient-care skills.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Clinical research coordination experience.
•    Experience with IV infusions and medication administration.
•    ACLS certification.
•    Familiarity with GCP, FDA regulations, IRB requirements, EDC and IRT systems, and clinical trial documentation.
•    Experience in internal medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, emergency medicine, critical care, infusion therapy, or another medically complex clinical setting.

•    Resolute and dependable with the ability to complete assignments and deliverables within required timelines.
•    Strong critical thinking skills and willingness to assist other members of the research team.
•    Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, protocol compliance, and research quality.
Schedule & Operational Requirements
•    Core clinic hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
•    Some flexibility may be required for early-morning, late-day, weekend, or extended research visits based on study requirements.
•    This is not a remote position and requires direct patient care and on-site participation in clinical research activities.
•    Must be able to remain on-site for prolonged or time-sensitive research visits when required.
•    Must be able to perform venipuncture, IV procedures, collect and process biological specimens, and perform other direct clinical research procedures.
Professional Expectations
The RN/CRC is expected to function as both a clinical research nurse and study coordinator, balancing direct patient care with study coordination responsibilities.
The successful candidate must consistently follow study protocols, site policies, SOPs, sponsor instructions, and established research workflows. All documentation must be accurate, complete, contemporaneous, and maintained within required timelines.
